Project Matsu - HyspIRI
Last week OCC Director Robert Grossman participated in the 2013 HyspIRI Symposium in Maryland as part of the OCC’s collaboration with NASA, Project Matsu. Dr. Grossman gave a talk on the use of Big Data for rapid scientific collaboration.
The symposium’s focus was on the production of products for Aquatic Studies and Societal Benefit Areas using the Hyperspectral Infrared Imager or HyspIRI mission which will study the world’s ecosystems and provide critical information on natural disasters such as volcanoes, wildfires and drought. The HyspIRI mission includes two instruments mounted on a satellite. There is an imaging spectrometer measuring from the visible to short wave infrared and a multispectral imager measuring the mid and thermal infrared (TIR).
