Robert Grossman, Ph.D. 

Founder and Director 

Dr. Grossman is the Frederick H. Rawson Distinguished Service Professor in Medicine and Computer Science and the Jim and Karen Frank Director of the Center for Translational Data Science (CTDS) at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Grossman is also the Founder and Director of the not-for-profit Open Commons Consortium (OCC), which manages and operates cloud computing and data commons infrastructure to support scientific, medical, healthcare and environmental research.

Chief Information Security Officer

Plamen is an information security executive with 20 years of hands-on experience and proven leader in the areas of cybersecurity and innovative problem-solving. Plamen has extensive experience in developing and implementing strategies for improvements in data protection for on-premise and cloud-based environments.

As the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Chicago (UoC) Biological Science Division (BSD), Plamen was an early adopter of the Cybersecurity Framework. Under his leadership, UoC remained at the forefront of Framework implementations by being the first organization to develop and publish a case study for NIST.

With over a decade of experience, her work spans multiple health domains, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and data sharing to benefit the broader healthcare community. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University, where she continues to drive innovation at the intersection of research, technology, and clinical practice.

She has experience as a software developer for designing and deploying web applications. She aspires to be a contributor to the revolutionary implementation of data science techniques to generate helpful predictions. She aims to utilize her skills to develop software solutions that can be beneficial to society.

Urvi has a master's degree in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) with proficiency in web development and data analytics.

Mikisha Patel

Technical Project Manager

Mikisha is a Technical Project Manager responsible for analyzing, planning, governance and developing project-specific data commons. She has hands on experience working with cross management on multiple projects which includes research, defining deliverables, evaluation and managing technological needs per clients’ requirements. She uses her skillsets to adopt different project management approaches, tools, and phases of product life cycle to solve/manage project communications, structure for data contribution and data access. She works closely with the technical leads, interacting with internal and external stakeholders as the Subject Matter Expert to provide Information Technology guidance and solutions.

Mikisha has master’s degree in Informatics from Northeastern University, Boston with expertise in Leading and Managing Technical Projects.
